The parent company of NorthMart says it believes an electrical issue is to blame for the fire early Saturday morning which destroyed much of the Happy Valley-Goose Bay grocery store.
In a media release Monday afternoon, David Chatyrbok, Vice-President of Sales and Operations at the North West Company, said there will be a temporary storefront in place at its Hamilton River Rd. location as soon as possible.
No one was injured in the fire. The company didn’t release any further details of the fire investigation.
Mayor focused on store making a come back.
The mayor of Happy Valley-Goose Bay says the loss of a local grocery will have big effect on the community — but the store will come back.
The mayor said NorthMart management met with employees on Sunday to reassure them that the store would be restored.
