NGC Projects (Audio)

The operations of the Torngat Mountains Base Camp up north near Saglek went well this summer.

This is according to James Thorbourne , President and CEO for Nunatsiavut Group of Companies.

He says one of the other projects they have on the go is they have loaded up 25 blocks of anorthasite on their barge at the quarry site at Ten Mile Bay.

NGC’s tugboat is in Goose Bay, and she is scheduled to go the site and pick up the barge and bring the load back to GB to be trucked to Baie Comeau, Quebec.

Thorbourne says two loads of the PCB’s were taken out from the community in Hopedale this summer, but he could not say what’s happened in the last month.

He says the rock crusher is in Nain, so there is still some work there.

Otherwise they have finished crushing rock in the other communities.

The other projects include the town center in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, which will be winding down for the season.
