More Cases May Emerge From Home Care Home

It’s likely that more cases will emerge as the investigation into COVID Cluster at personal care home in Baie Verte.

That’s according to Dr. Monica Dutt, the Acting Medical Officer of Health with Central Health.

Ten of eleven cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the Central Newfoundland region are in a personal care home in Baie Verte.

Eight of these cases involve people over the age of 70.

That’s a serious concern to public health officials who are investigating the cause of the outbreak and how the virus got into the facility.

Dr. Dutt says she expects to see more cases linked to the cluster as contact tracing continues.

In response to the cluster, testing is available for those experiencing symptoms in the Baie Verte area yesterday.

The clinic runs from 9am to 7pm at the Tommy Ricketts Arena in the community.

Appointments will not be needed.

As well, several COVID-19 vaccination clinics have opened in the area. Information can be found on Central Health website.
