Makkovik DHSD Programs

The Makkovik Department of Health and Social Development are busy holding different programs and services in their community.

Linda Pottle is the Team Leader with DHSD.

She says yesterday they held a senior’s dinner at the DHSD at 12 noon.

And today they held a community lunch; the lunch was open to the public.

Pottle says during each dinner, there will be a short educational topic done.

And next week a wellness day will be held on May 22, a supper will be served starting at 5pm with a discussion on educational topics in regards to mental health.

On May 23 they will hold another senior’s dinner at noon.

On Saturday May 25 will be a movie night for women for ages 18 years and older
And refreshments will be available.

She says the youth groups are held every Mondays at 5:30pm for grades 4-6 and on Tuesday youth groups are held for grades 1 and 2 at 3pm, on Wednesdays the kindergarten youth groups are held at 3pm.

They also hold radio shows on Wednesday and Friday mornings, CHW always on a health topic.

And on May 30 the meals for men program will go ahead at 12 noon.

And a dinner for those who are living with diabetes will be held during dinner hour on May 29, and a taste tester will be hosted on May 31 for the public.
