Lester Powell

Lester Powell of Happy Valley-Goose Bay will be receiving the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador in September.

There are nine people in total to receive this honour.

Powell has been flying for over 50 years, and more than 44 years of those has been spent providing valuable service to our region.

He has moved people, mail, freight and more importantly, carried out more than 1000 medivac’s, transporting people who needed medical attention.

Powell was nominated by Dave Paddon and contributions made by Philip Earle.

This will be the 14th investiture ceremony since the first appointments were made in 2004, bringing the total number of recipients to 127.
