Free legal support sessions

The Journey Project is an ongoing partnership between the public legal information association of NL and the Newfoundland and Labrador sexual assault crisis and prevention centre to enhance supports and responses for survivors of sexual violence in Newfoundland and Labrador within the justice system.

Legal clinic are being held in Nain on February 12th and 13th where lawyers will be available to provide free legal consultations to community members.

Persons who meet the eligibility criteria can receive up to four hours of free legal advice from a practicing lawyer in NL.

The journey project employs two legal support navigators, who are available by phone, email, text and in person to provide trauma-informed support, general legal information, referrals for legal advice through the Sexual violence legal support service, and referrals to other community resources.

The legal support navigators will also meet face to face with clientsto provide court accompaniment and other supports, where practicable.

Community legal clinics will be held at the Pulâpvik building (previously Parks Canada building) on Tuesday, February 12 from 6-8pm and Wednesday, February 13 from 9am-12pm. Appointments and drop-ins available.
