First Light Aboriginal Centre in St. John’s is a non-profit organization that serves the Urban and Indigenous and non-Indigenous community alike by providing programs and services noted in the revitalization, strengthening and celebration Indigenous, cultures and languages in the spirit, respect and friendship.
First Light is bringing back their 5 day after school program! This is just an application process; this is not final registration for the program. They will be prioritizing Indigenous families, First Light staff members children, anyone who has attended previous after school programs, their daycare after school program and their daily weekly programming for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth to come together in both culture, and non-cultural activities. This program will focus on their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well being through activities such as homework hour, crafts, drumming, outdoor time, book club, and more. They will be incorporating First Light mission into their program focusing on trust, respect, friendship among youth and staff.
Also, they would like to invite community members to participate in discussions on all things wellness. Join them on Tuesdays.
