COVID-19 And The Flu Dropping But Could Be Problems In The Fall (Dated May 6, 2022)

Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says new infection rates are down, particularly in over -60 populations.

COVID-19 numbers are steadily dropping in Newfoundland and Labrador, but that doesn’t mean abandoning safety measures just yet, says the provinces Chief Medical Officer of Health.

Fitzgerald estimates that around third of the province has had COVID-19 over the last two years.

Fitzgerald also says it’s important to keep following the same COVID precautions, including wearing masks, and to be careful judging the risk in different situations. She said this applies not just for COVID-19 but for the newly resurgent flu season.
