Community Group Discussion on Fisheries

There will be half-day group discussion session in Nain on the evening of August 22, starting at 5pm in the main boardroom in the NG building.

Melina Kourantidou and Megan Bailey are researchers and they will be documenting Inuit knowledge, practices and views about fisheries in Nunatsiavut (crab, shrimp, turbot, and char fisheries).

The project is a part of a larger initiative that has to do with the social, economic and cultural importance of these fisheries for Nunatsiavut. The objective is to co-develop indicators that can be used by communities and the NG in managing fisheries resources into the future.

To participate, you must be over the age of 18, and be able to speak and read English. Potential participants should note that the group discussions will be recorded.

The researchers would like to invite community members with knowledge on these fisheries to come to the meeting.
