First Light, Aboriginal Friendship Centre in St. John’s has cancelled all their programming for this week, as it’s members mourn the loss of a well known Artist and Indigenous activist.
The staff and board members are with incredible sadness to share the passing of co-worker Andrew Harvey on Monday, at the age of 39.
Andrew was more than a colleague, he was a friend, and he was family, and he was a true inspiration for anyone who was lucky to know him.
And Andrews impact in our community will be forever.
It was rare to see him without a smile on his face, we will never forget his laugh. We will try our best to bring as so much joy and happiness each day as Andrew did. We are sending all our prayers to his family and friends during this time.
Andrew will always be a part of our First Light Family and we are offering all our support, love and strength that we can during this difficult time.
First Light staff will be grieving together this week, and programming will be cancelled. Next week, we will provide opportunities for a drop-in support to members of our community with more details come on Friday.
