Day 4 of the winter games saw great volleyball action at the gymnasium at Mealy Mountain Collegiate.
On the courts for the day were teams from Makkovik, Nain, Hopedale, North West River, Natuashish, and L’Anse au Loup.
Team Hopedale had a bit more steam than Northwest River and pulled off the bronze medal win with a 25-15 score.
That set the stage for the gold medal matchup of two strong teams, Makkovik and Nain.
Team Makkovik captured the gold by a final score of 25-22 in a tense, hard-fought game.
The Broomfield Memorial arena was abuzz with excitement last night as the first night of the ever popular Northern games got underway.
Two athletes from each community were to compete in the two events-hurdles and over the rope- during night one of the northern games.
Night two of the northern games will continue tonight.
Day five of the winter Games has the Labrathon, darts and the northern games.
