The OKâlaKatiget Society is preparing its first-ever commercially available audio recording.
The project is being co-ordinated by Mark Turner and the album will be released as part of the Back on Track Audio Publication Series from Memorial University’s Research Centre for the Study of Music, Media, and Place.
The idea behind the project is simple. We want to make an album that represents the songs and sounds that Labrador Inuit know come from the OKâlaKatiget Society.
For this project, we need your help.
Do you have an idea for a song by Labrador Inuit broadcast on that OKâlaKatiget Society should be included?
Are there certain voices we need to include, or important interviews?
Are there sounds that are distinct to the OKâlaKatiget Society that need to be included?
We are asking you to submit any ideas you have by contact the OKâlaKatiget Society directly. All we need is your idea and the reason for it.
Ideas can be submitted anonymously, or, with your name attached. Any questions about the project can be directed to Mark Turner at mark.turner@mun.ca
We will be accepting submissions until March 31st, 2020.
