The Provincial Government and Vale NL made an announcement on the underground mining at Voisey’s Bay a couple of days ago.
Vale NL will be moving forward with its underground mining operation- a move that is expected to extend the life of the mine by 15 years.
Officials from the Provincial Government, Nunatsiavut, Innu Nation and Labrador MP Yvonne Jones were in attendance.
Randy Edmunds, MHA for the Torngat Mountains, was also there.
He says the work and process for the underground mining will be started soon.
There will also be additional employees hired at the mine site.
