34th Annual RCMP Volleyball Tournament Wraps Up

The 34th Annual RCMP Volleyball Tournament in Hopedale, NL started at 4 pm on April 20, 2018 and finished on Saturday April 21, 2018 around 10 pm.

Charlotte Lucy- Piercy is the Community Constable for Hopedale.

She says they had seven women’s teams and six men’s teams registered.

The two men’s teams that went to the finals were Overkill from Hopedale and Team Nain Secret.

The two women’s teams in the final were The Heat from Hopedale and Set for Life from Makkovik.

Overkill captured gold in the men’s division and Set for Life took home gold in the women’s finals.

Both first place winners received gold medals, trophies, and track suits.

The second place teams won silver medals.

Lucy-Piercy added that the women’s MVP award was given to Charlene Gear from team Set for Life from Makkovik.

Ashley Abel of team Heat from Hopedale won the women’s Most Sportsmanlike Player award.

Samuel Dicker from Nain won both the MVP and Most Sportsmanlike Player award for the men’s division.

Each of them took home trophies for their awards.
