Uluk Making Workshop for Boys Still Has Openings

AnânauKatiget Tumingit had to postpone the recently planned ulu making workshop for boys.

Cathy Ford is the Coordinator for AnânauKatiget.

She says that due to a lack of interest for the workshop it never went ahead and will be rescheduled for sometime in September.

She says that they have one spot still open for boys from ages 13-18 from Hopedale, Makkovik, Rigolet, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, and Northwest River.

The spots for Nain and Postville to attend the workshop at Gosling Lake are filled.

If you are interested in attending this workshop you’re asked to contact Cathy at (709) 923-2140.

Ford added that the boys will also learn how to maintain the ulu.

Once the workshop is over, the boys will then head back to their home community, and hand over the Ulu to a woman in their life that they respect.
