This year’s Lab Cup is being hailed as the largest in the soccer tournament’s 33 year history, according to the Labradorian.
Between the men’s, women’s, and master’s divisions, a total of 33 teams are all vying for a championship.
Of course, this big tournament, which will run until Sunday at the E.J. Broomfield Arena in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, couldn’t have been put on without plenty of volunteers.
Since there were more teams this year than before, the schedule for the 2015 Lab Cup is longer.
Instead of starting on a Wednesday night, the tournament kicked off on a Tuesday night.
Also, today has a full day of games, rather than starting in the afternoon.
Anyone who has watched the Lab Cup since its early days has seen the tournament evolve tremendously.
Men’s Team Makkovik won their first game by a score of Makkovik 2 Lab City 0.
The Makkovik Women’s Team lost their first game yesterday.
But they bounced back in their second game this morning, winning by a score of Makkovik Girls 2, Bentley’s Girls 1.
