The Economic Development Division will be running a Youth Ventures Program which focuses on building young entrepreneurs and providing them assistance in running their own business.
This past summer, their program introduced Igloo Treats, selling ice-cream.
Josh Kaunak, who was hired as a Youth Ventures Program Coordinator, will be responsible for assisting youth with their entrepreneurial needs and is also working with the communities for this program.
And with the success of this program this past summer, the Division has decided that within each community, their goal is to continue on with this program by mid-December, and have a Christmas themed event that will provide 1-2 youth in each community to work with a local crafts person to produce Christmas ornaments.
He says the key to the successful delivery of this program is to ensure that they have a good support system within the communities that can assist youth in preparation for this event.
