Torngat Wildlife, Plants and Fisheries Secretariat said yesterday, last year they brought their geese event to Rigolet, Postville, Makkovik, Hopedale and Nain and got to chat about geese to 150 people last fall.
They will implement all the work they had talked about by putting 25 GPS collars on lesser geese outside Hopedale.
These collars are extremely rugged and light and they are solar powered and will keep battery life throughout the migration of the geese
They will soon be finding out where the lesser geese spend their time in their year.
There will be more updates on this project and what to do if you harvest a collared or branded bird, as the field work begins in September.
