Some of the construction of new homes, including repairs, are completed in the north coast communities.

William Lucy is the coordinator of Torngat Reegional Housing Association.

He says 3 of the 4 new homes are completed in Nain, with two turned over to the homeowners, with one being turned over today and work continues on the fourth home. The major repairs of homes will be carried out in the spring May or June.

In Hopedale, 3 out of the 4 units are also completed, they’re putting up gyprock and plastering on the fourth home, plus wiring. That home will be turned over in February. The major repairs will also begin in the spring.

In Rigolet, 1 out of the 3 new units is completed and is being turned over today, the construction of the other two will be started in the spring including one major repair.

One new home is completed in Makkovik and has been turned over to the homeowners. Two homes were repaired, there will be work on the third in the spring.

Most of all the repairs on the homes are completed in Postville, with new shingles to be put down on the roofs in the spring, the crew there are now laid off.
