The scallop boat, Torngat 1 went out on its first trip to drag for scallops near Nain yesterday.
Deidi Kohlmeister is the Office Supervisor of the Nain Fish plant.
She says there were two crew members plus the captain on board.
A total of 841 pounds of green scallops was landed, plus 32 pounds of shucked meats.
Kohlmeister says the Torngat 1 headed back out fishing this morning.
She says the office is hiring on a couple of employees to start shucking today.
Meanwhile, the Nain office has not gotten any word from the head office in Goose Bay, if the locals will be able to buy some scallops at this time.
