The Nunatsiavut Government wishes to advise Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement that it has been informed that the presumptive positive case of COVID-19 at the Voisey’s Bay mine site has turned out to be negative.
An individual presented at the site as asymptomatic on Monday, October 26, participating in and passing all normal screening protocols.
On Wednesday October 28th, the individual began exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 and was immediately placed into self-isolation. A subsequent test confirmed a presumptive positive case.
A second test was administered on Saturday, October 31st, and sent to St. John’s for processing at the provincial Public Health lab. The results came back negative this morning.
Beneficiaries are urged to remain vigilant and to continue following all public health protocols (proper hand hygiene, social distancing, avoid large crowds, wear a mask, etc.) to prevent potential exposure and spread of COVID-19.
