Today, Yvonne Jones, Member of Parliament for Labrador, is pleased to join Lt. Col. Stéphane Racle to recognize Sarah Leo’s investiture as an Honorary Colonel in the 444 Combat Support Squadron in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
Sarah Leo has proudly served our Country in uniform for 21 years, and since her return to civilian service, she ran, was elected and served as AnkgajukKuk of Nain Inuit Community Government and President of the Nunatsivuit Government, being the first and only woman to hold that office.
Today, Ms. Leo, becomes the first Indigenous woman to serve as an Honorary Colonel in the 444 Squadron at 5-Wing Goose Bay.
On Indigenous day, she thinks it is especially appropriate to set and recognize this new milestone for women in our community.
Ms. Leo continues to be a strong advocate for Inuit business and serves with the Nunatsiavut Group of Companies as the Vice President of Corporate Development, she is also a true Ambassador for Labrador and Canada’s North.
Jones would like to send my sincerest congratulations to Ms. Sarah Leo on her appointment, and she looks forward to working with her in her new role.
Again this statement was made today by MP Yvonne Jones.
