Lisa Palliser-Bennett is one of 2 local Community Health Workers based out of Rigolet.
Palliser says it’s a bit of a struggle trying to get back to normal living, how it was before the COVID-19 pandemic, but still tries to hold at least one or two community events each month.
But each month she offers programs such as Community Kitchen, healthy recess for school children from grades K-12, high school cooking, events for women, and men. She holds a School Connections program, a diabetes event along with senior’s events like bingo and meals.
She tries to hold weekly events that include food demos, fitness challenges, what would include a vegetable giveaway.
Once a year Palliser offers a bottling workshop for food preservation. Lisa, along with her coworker, partners with the RCMP once a year to hold a bike rodeo.
Palliser also mentioned that there will be a Nutritionist visiting Rigolet tomorrow, June 13, 2023, and she will be holding a community event.
