World Tuberculosis Day

World Tuberculosis (TB) Day is recognized on March 24th each year, it is an official global public health campaign of the World Health Organization.

Recognizing World TB Day provides an opportunity to enhance public awareness and education of TB and reduce the stigma and fear associated with a TB diagnosis.

I would like to take this opportunity to formally acknowledge the courage and strength of Labrador Inuit who have been diagnosed with active or sleeping TB.

By completing treatment, you have protected your friends, family and community from TB.

I would also like to formally acknowledge the compassion and dedication of all those involved in efforts to eliminate TB in Nunatsiavut, across the province, across the country, and around the world.

We must not let the current COVID-19 pandemic deter or weaken our efforts to eliminate TB.

TB has been around for hundreds of years and it will take all of us working together to rid our beautiful land of this devastating disease.

The theme of this year’s World TB Day is, “The Clock is Ticking”, and the time to act is now.

I, Johannes Lampe, President of Nunatsiavut, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 as “World TUBERCULOSIS DAY” in Nunatsiavut.
