Pauktuutit Role Model Campaign

Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada recently launched their National Role Model Campaign last month in March.

The Violence and Abuse Prevention Department of Pauktuutit held this campaign in partnership with the successful Pilimmaksarniq which means engaging men and boys in reducing violence against women and girls project.

In partnership with regional partners, this project is encouraging people to nominate Inuit community members who demonstrate healthy relationships, gender equality, and how to live free from violence.

Pauktuutit thanks the Role Model Campaign and the regional partners are with the Nunatsiavut Government; Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services; Qarjuit Youth Council; Inuvialuit Regional Corporation; Qikiqtani Inuit Association; and Nunavut Tunngavik Inc.

Up to six individuals will be selected through regional and then national committees to be interviewed in their community and featured in videos and posters that will be shared online.

This is an opportunity to recognize some of the many positive Inuit role models who are in and outside of Inuit Nunangat.

Through this campaign Pauktuutit is highlighting their strong Inuit values like learning through observation, caring for others and being respectful towards everyone.

Nomination forms and more information are available at www.pauktuutit.ca.

The deadline for submissions is April 5, 2019 and finalists will be announced later that month.
