On the land workshop, plastics and heavy metals in Nunatsiavut foodways and environments.
The start date will be from August 31st and September 1st, 2022 at Sandy Point.
They will spend the day out on the land, talking about research happening in and around Nain.
They will have interactive sessions discussing sampling techniques, cooking and foodways, and respectfully working with animals on the land. Plus informal time to get to know each other and spend time on the land.
The purpose is to bring together local researchers and knowledge holders and southern researchers to discuss relationships between plastic pollution, heavy metals, and Inuit foodways. These discussions will help us connect and build relationships and guide the research priorities and questions.
This if for anyone who lives in Nain and is interested in talking about plastics research and work happening in the region.
Please RSVP with Liz Pijogge (Liz.Pijogge@nunatsiavut.com) at the research centre if you would like to join this workshop or call to ask for more information (709) 922-2380.
