Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Greg Flowers is pleased to announce the approval of multi-year designation policy for managing communal-commercial fishing assets held by Nunatsiavut Government. The new policy will come into effect on November 15, 2021.
“We are releasing the policy now to allow Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement additional time to read and understand the policy document”, notes Minister Flowers.” Our fishers have been requesting to enter into multi-year designation agreements with Nunatsiavut Government, to support their plans to move forward in the commercial fishery.”
The policy document allows for multi-year designation agreements, supposed by good business planning, and also recognizes the importance of the Labrador Inuit Tax Agreement to Nunatsiavut Government.
