New Resources for School Year

Education Minister allocated extra resources for new school year.

Minister Brian Warr says additional resources will be allocated where necessary for extra cleaning required for a safe K-grade 12 education system.

The “back to school plan” does not specifically allocate additional resources even though some of the measures would seem to require such.

He says they will have extra instructional staff in schools come September under phase three of the Education Action Plan.

In total, an additional 171 resources will be put in schools across the province. As for the school size, Warr says Newfoundland and Labrador is right there with rest of Atlantic Canada.

NAPE – which represent many non-teaching staff, including some bus drivers – the situation presents an enormous challenge. President Jerry Earle says time is not on their side with schools opening only two months from now.

He notes that student assistants sometimes travel with students on the buses and they have only six to seven weeks to put everything together.
