The Federal Government formed a new data base to help the Nanilavut initiative.
The Nunatsiavut Government recently hired a Nanilavut Project Manager.
We spoke with Cathy Ford the Nanilavut Project Manager.
She says she started her new position in November 2018.
Her office is located in Makkovik.
Nanilavut means “let us find them” in the Baffin dialect term.
Ford says her primary goal for the Nanilavut initiative is to help bring closure and begin the healing process for Inuit families and communities who have been searching for lost loved ones from that TB epidemic of the 1940s-1960s.
Stay tuned to our AtjiKangitut today to find out more about this new initiative.
