Thanks to the sponsors of NICG Recreation Department, Ulapitsaijet, and the NVFD, the community of Nain will hold a Music Festival this weekend.

Today they announced the winner of the New Name Contest for this Music Festival, and Katie Emelia Winters won herself $250, naming the Festival “Tusannituk, Nice to Listen To”.
Tusannituk Music Festival will begin Saturday, August 24 located at the Jeremias Sillitt Community Centre with a community breakfast from 8am-9:30am.
From 10am-5pm they will hold a fishing contest with prizes of most fish, heaviest fish, and longest fish all prizes of $100. You can fish anywhere, all fish must be caught by rod, and you must be at the wharf by 5pm for judging by Edward Harris.
There will be a Children’s Movie from 12 noon-1:30pm playing “Secret Life of Pets 2”.
And from 3-4PM they will have a Team Band Trivia, and teams can consist of a maximum of 6 players, and prizes for the winners will win $200.
6PM will be the opening ceremony for the Music Festival, with introduction, along with the Nain Brass Band.
6:30-7:30PM will be local players, and starting 7:45PM David Hart and his band will play, than 9PM it will be an Open Mic for any locals.
There will also be a Photo Contest during the Festival, and the contest will be for Capturing Moments during this 2 day Music Festival. Prizes will get $200, and entries can be emailed to recreationnain@nf.aibn.com, and there will also be a Door Prize and you must be present to win yourself an Ipad Mini.
The seniors van will be available for rides ages 55 years and up, to the JS only from 8am-10am and 5:30-10pm, and on Sunday from 2-5pm and 6-10pm, so call 2690/2691 for rides.
