Nain Canada Day Events

Canada Day this year will be celebrating the 155th birthday of Canada on Friday, July 1, 2022.

The Recreation Department has some events planned for Nain starting on Thursday, June 30th.

There will be men’s and women’s volleyball tournament starting at 6pm with a maximum of 6 players and minimum of 4 players, and winners will receive $30 each.

Anyone interested in participating in the tournament can contact Gwen Dyson.

On Friday, July 1, there will be a Community Breakfast from 8am to 9:30am at the Jeremias Sillitt Community Centre, serving sausages, bologna, boiled eggs, toast, and oranges.

A Canada Day Family Photo Scavenger Hunt 2022 will be starting at 10am until 11pm, device needed.

You can register by 4pm on Thursday, June 30th at the JS Centre or call 922-2690 or 2691, and must meet at the JS Centre at 11am.

1st place will win $150, 2nd place $100, and 3rd place $75.

From 10:30am to 3pm, a fishing contest will be taking place and awards will be given for the heaviest and most fish.

Persons wishing to register for this competition must call the JS building by 4pm on Thursday, June 30th.

If you are not registered at the JS Centre, they will not accept your fish.

Please bring your fish to Edward Harris at the sports field at 3pm where judging will take place.

Please note that fish must be caught by rod, and any small fish will not be accepted for most fish.
