Makkovik Trout Festival kicks off Today

The 28th Annual Trout Festival in Makkovik starts today.

The Festival starts at 2pm with Amazing Plant Race Canada with Erica Oberndorfer who is Post-doctoral Fellow Labrador Institute of Memorial University for ages 8-11 at the Youth Centre.

At 6:30pm there will a Trout Festival Parade.

There is $200 prize for the most Outrageously Dressed Person with Trout Festival Theme.

Using the following materials only Garbage bags, Newspaper, cardboard, duct tape or Packaging tape.

Lastly, at 10 pm, the evening will close out with fireworks at the Hebron area of Makkovik.

Tomorrow’s events start at 1:30pm with Family and Friends Sand Sculpture Contest at Ranger Bight Beach.

Other events scheduled for tomorrow include Mug-up, DHSD Bingo, Dance for ages up to 5 years old and a Formal Dance.
