It’s been a slow fishery in Makkovik this year, this happened after a single snow crab boat was left fishing with its crew. But now, there are 4 turbot boats to land in their catches.
Angel Chaulk is the Office Assistant in the fish plant.
She says a total of 218, 733 lbs of snow crab were landed on August 13 after the fishery closed for the season.
Chaulk says a total of 18, 202 lbs of turbot were landed last week, which was first landing.
Another boat is expected to arrive hopefully tomorrow with its load.
She says there are 38 employees working, with 3 people working night shifts.
