The Hopedale Recreation Department has their schedule made for January.
Georgia Abel is the Recreation Director.
All events will be at the Nanuk Community Centre and majority of the events was sponsored by the Kumitsiatik Committee.
Some of these activities varies on when players are practicing for the winter games.
There is regular programming for children 12 and under from 3 to 5pm and 6 to 8pm, and for children 13 years and older from 7-8pm and 8-10pm. There is a rotational shift on which age group gets the gym or the youth room, upstairs.
Every Thursday, starting this week, January 19, there will be food sales to help with recreation funds at 5pm.
Every second Friday, at 6pm, seniors 50 years and older have a free merchandise bingo.
Every Saturday, tot’s and toddlers’ have their program from 1 to 3pm and Christian drop-ins from 3 to 6pm with McKinley and Darlene Winters.
On January 20th, there will be a giant bingo at 7:30pm after the Labrador Winter Games fair with $100 games, $700 mini jackpot, and a jackpot of $1500.
The Recreation will be hosting an all nighter sleepover on January 21st from 8pm to 8am for children between the ages of 10 years to 15 years.
At the sleepover, there will be a mini volleyball tournament for 10 to 15 years of age with a $5 fee and a table tennis tournament with a fee of $5 for children 13 years to 15 years.
Abel would like to add there are girl guides and drama group for children 9 years to 12 years of age.
