Some youth went on a trip to Iggiak on a long liner last week.
Crystal Allen Webb is the Youth Outreach Worker with the Nain Department of Health and Social Development.
She says the trip turned out amazing and the weather was beautiful the whole time.
Webb says there was ten youth and two guides, Sue Webb and Maria Merkuratsuk, and two summer students, Samantha Saksagiak and Starr Webb.
On the first day, July 28th, everyone helped clean up the camp where a bear had broken in.
That evening, they settled in, relaxed, talked about what they were going to do on the trip, and went over the rules.
She says on July 29th, they went fishing up by Voisey’s Bay and went swimming and later in the evening they prepared supper and played some Inuttitut bingo.
Next day was craft day and they sewed items with seal skin, went on a hike and picked up some Labradorite.
They prepared supper, played some icebreakers and had a bonfire in the evening.
On the last day, Friday, July 31st, they cleaned up the camp, packed up and went fishing before heading back home.
Allen adds that everyone who participated helped out and had a good time.
