Hockey Canada’s CEO, and including the whole board of directors leave organization amid scandal after facing fierce sexual assaults.
The National Organization announced the departures in a statement on Tuesday after hearing months of calls for leadership changes within the body, and seeing its major sponsors walk away over the weekend.
Canada Hockey’s board announced departure of chief executive officer Scott Smit. The entire board also agreed to step down to make room new slate of directors.
The statement said an interim management committee will be put in place which will guide the organization until no later than a newly constituted appoints a new CEO to lead the organization. Further mor, Hockey Canada said the board will ask the members to select a new slate of directors no later than an upcoming virtual election, which is scheduled for Tuesday, December 17.
The current board of directors will not seek re-election and will fulfill its fiduciary until such time as a new board is selected.
