Healing and Commemoration, In Their Own Words

In Their Own Words, the Healing and Commemoration is having travelling exhibition, they will tour a total of nine communities throughout Labrador and Newfoundland.

We spoke to Aimee Chaulk, Editor from Them Days.

The exhibition was developed from the Healing and Commemoration sessions held in several communities in 2018, following the 2017 apology to the former students of the NFLD and Labrador residential schools.

It follows the wishes of the former students to have their experiences share din their own words.

The Healing and Commemoration is launching in Nain on Monday, July 17 from 3-5pm located at Illusuak.

This is open to everyone, and refreshments and snacks will also be available.

The exhibit “In Their Own Words” will continue to be available for viewing for two weeks, then it will head to Hopedale, and continue south through Nunatsiavut.
