A group of people traveled up north on Good Friday, March 30th, to go to Hebron.
Levi Nochasak is an Elder from Nain.
He says while traveling up north, the ice was really good to travel on at first, but coming back on the ice, there was open water at Hebron, Mugford and the Kilapaits.
Nochasak says they had to go on the land to come back to Nain, because it was all open water where they were.
He adds they saw lots of Polar Bears while they were up north as well.
In fact, one encounter with a polar bear ended up with one of the group’s skidoo seat being damaged by one of the bears.
