Flags were lowered Half Mast in Happy Valley-Goose Bay in honour of the late Dr. Wieslaw Rawluk yesterday.
The town was saddened to learn of the passing of a prominent figure of the community and indeed all of Labrador.
For nearly 30 years, Dr Rawluk called HV-GB home and throughout his time tenure (permanent time) with Labrador Grenfell Health, he delivered many babies.
He was a well known and respected obstetrics-gynecology (OB-GYN), his career spanned 50 years.
His Worship, Town Mayor Wilson (Wally) Andersen stated:
“Dr. Rawluk in his own way was as down to earth as anyone could be. He was not only recognized, respected and well-liked in our community, communities throughout all of Labrador felt this way about him. He was just that kind of person, you met him and you instantly liked him.”
The 12th Council, Management and staff of the Town of HV-GB offer sincere condolences to Dr. Rawluk’s family and friends and former colleagues.
In honour of his legacy and his contribution to health care in Labrador, flags in front of the Town Hall will fly at half- mast until after Dr. Rawluk’s funeral service.
