Enhancement Employment Program Update

OK Radio contacted each of the Inuit Community Governments along the coast to get what’s going on for the Enhancement Employment Programs.

Shirley Goudie is the supervisor for the program with the Postville ICG.

Goudie says the projects are doing well.

There have been three people in total. Two people are done and one is still making their hours.

They have been doing traditional crafts, sewing crafts and woodwork around town.

Donna Flowers is the supervisor for the Enhancement program in Hopedale.

Flowers say that they are still waiting for approvals for funds to get people to get their hours.

Barry Andersen is the AngajukKak for the Makkovik ICG.

Andersen says the projects are going smooth.

There were seven people who participated. 5 people have done their hours. One will be done this afternoon and one will still be doing the hours.

They have been shoveling snow around town, doing some crafts and fixing up at the graveyard.

Joe Dicker is the AngajukKak for the Nain ICG.

Dicker says the projects are doing well.

They had enough funds for a total of 9 people. Seven people have done their hours, one will be done this Friday and one will be done sometime in February.

Next, they’ll be helping with the Arena. They’ll be working on the zamboni and work around the arena to get it ready for the winter.
