Canada Day is coming up this Sunday July 1, 2018.
In Nain, the events start tomorrow, Saturday, June 30.
To start off Canada Day there will be a Coed Volleyball Tournament at 2pm at the Jeremias Sillett Community Centre.
From 1 pm to 8 pm a Texas Hold ‘Em will take place also at the JSCC and registration starts at 12 noon.
On July 1, Canada Day, to start off the day there a community breakfast is a go at 8 am to 9:30 am at the JSCC.
A Canada Day Photo Contest will go on and your photo’s can be emailed to recreationnain@nf.aibn.com, photos must be sent no later than 4 pm July 3.
Photos must symbolize Canada Day.
A Fishing Contest starts at 10:30 am until 3 pm.
Persons wishing to register for this competition must call the NICG office by 4pm today, June 29.
The parade is at 1 pm starting at the airstrip.
There are only 1st place prizes for the best decorated vehicle, stroller, ATV, pet and bike.
After that a free community bbq will go ahead at the ball field.
1:30 pm games of chance for all.
Peddle boat rentals at the old dam for $5/ person for 15 minutes.
Family activities also start at 1:30 at the ball field.
The cardboard boat race starts at 2:30 pm at the playground.
Giant Radio bingo is at 4pm.
Community Dance and Games up at the JSCC from 7 to 9 pm.
Fireworks are at 11:30 pm.
And on July 2, a 120 card game starts at 1pm at the JSCC.
And to end off the events there is a Softball Tournament at 2 pm.
In Hopedale, the day will start off at 9 am with the flag raising and then at 9:30 the parade will start.

In Makkovik, they start with a parade starting at 11 am.
Fun filled games and events all day and end off the day with a short fireworks display at 10:30 pm.
In Rigolet, they start off with a flag raising and singing of “O Canada” at 1:15 pm.
They end off their day of events with a bbq and salads sponsored by VALE and the RICG at 5 pm.
