Caribou Banned (Audio)

Yesterday the Nunatsiavut Government released a Media Release about the Hunt for caribou outside of the Torngat Mountains National Park is still illegal.

Jason Dicker is the Wild Life Manager with the Nunatsiavut Government.

He says in a press release from Nunatsiavut Government is advising Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement that they are not permitted to hunt caribou outside of the Torngat Mountains National Park.

Dicker says they can only hunt caribou inside the area of the Torngat Mountains National Park, and the ban is still in effect for the George River Caribou Herd.

The Nunatsiavut Government is committed to the protection and conservation of the George River Caribou Herd.

Any illegal harvesting activities should be reported to conservation officers.
