The Nunatsiavut Government Environment Division is looking for arctic char harvested this year around Nain, to take samples as part of an oil contaminants monitoring project.
We spoke with Frédéric Dwyer-Samuel who Is the Environmental Assessment Manager with the Nunatsiavut Government.
Dwyer-Samuel is asking anyone in Nain if they have some char in your freezer from this summer.
He adds that if you do have any char, they are looking to get 10 char samples.
You will get compensated for your time and you can still take your fish back home, once the sampling is done.
They will take two thumb-sized samples from the frozen fish (without thawing) and ask a few questions about where and when the fish was harvested.
If you have fish they could use, give Frederic a call (709-899-6702) or stop by the Research Centre and community freezer.
