April Review

Torngat Fish Producers Cooperative and the board members held their meeting in Goose Bay last week of March. The meeting went well, with agenda items that included the fishery of crab, turbot, char and plans for scallop and whelk survey.

The Annual HOPE Walk went ahead in Hopedale with 17 participants with two guides to the Healing Lodge on March 25th.

Immapivut project held a Face book photo contest from April 1st to the 15th.

Tradition and Transition in partnership with Nunatsiavut Government and Memorial University held an Embroidery work project from the 1940-1970’s. The meetings sessions were held in Goose Bay, Makkovik, Hopedale and Nain.

The Elders conference took place in Nain on April 8th; elders were invited from the north coast communities and kuujuaq.

The 39th annual Heritage Dogteam race went ahead on March 30th in Makkovik.

Land and Sea TV Crew came to Nain to do a documentary about the Webb Family.

Ethel Pijogge Memorial Festival was held on April 10th–13th in Hopedale.

Air Inuit Easter flights from kangiqsualujjuaq to Nain went ahead from April 18th, and April 23rd and back.

An enhanced Schedevac and Medevac Service was announced on Facebook Post on April 16th by MHA Randy Edmunds.

The Labrador Inuit Youth Symposium was held in Hopedale on April 24th to 29th.

The Flummies came to Nain and performed on April 25th and 27th, this year marked the Bands 41st being together.
