High Efficiency Woodstove Program Update

The Nunatsiavut Government would like to update residents of the five Labrador Inuit Communities on the situation regarding the High Efficiency Woodstove Program.

For the last several years, we have been using the Blaze King- King 40 as our preferred woodstove for the program due to its high efficiency rating and long burn times. Following the recent inspections and training from Wood Energy Transfer Technology (WETT) technicians, we have been advised to use a smaller stove that is more suitable to the square footage of the average home in Nunatsiavut.

Since this has come to our attention, the Nunatsiavut Government has been working diligently with these experts and using their advice and recommendations to select a better suited stove and to ensure we have the right materials to install them correctly.

All applications for this year of the program have been reviewed and there is no need to reapply. We will contact the successful applicants in the coming weeks to let them know they have been selected. When delivery times of all woodstoves and materials are confirmed, we will reach out again to discuss installation.

The High Efficiency Woodstove Program is of high importance to the Nunatsiavut Government and we will strive to get this program back on schedule. Our focus is to deliver this program successfully, without compromising the quality and safety of the installation.
