Nunatsiavut Government is completing an environmental review of the Nain Micro-Grid Project, under the Nunatsiavut Environmental Protection Act.
Led by Natural Forces and the Nunatsiavut Secretariat (the Proponent), the project plans to build wind turbine(s), battery storage and associated infrastructure in Nain to reduce diesel reliance for electricity generation.
The project description is available on the Nunatsiavut Government Website at www.nunatsiavut.com. You may also request it by e-mail from the proponent at jbyrne@naturalforces.ca, and a paper copy can be requested from your Nunatsiavut Liaison Officer (CLO).
The Nunatsiavut’s Department of Land and Natural Resources is currently conducting public consultations to gather the views of the Nunatsiavummiut regarding the project, as well as Inuit knowledge about the environment of the site of the project and potential environmental impacts.
Comments can be submitted to your CLOs at your Nunatsiavut Community Office, or by e-mail at environmentalreviews@nunatsiavut.com.
Please note that comments received in writing will be publicly available.
Due to Nunatsiavut Government Elections, the public consultation period has been extended to 90 days. The deadline for public comments is Monday, July 18.
