The President of NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) made a formal presentation to the Public Inquiry into Ground and Search in Labrador this week.
Todd Russel has a personal connection to a tragedy that unfolded on the Southeast Coast of Labrador in September, with loss of Russell’s nephew Mark Russell and his crewmate Joey Jenkins who were lost after leaving on a fishing trip.
Russell says that loss of the two young men has again raised questions and concerns about what he calls “a deeply flawed” search and rescue system.
Marc’s parents Jeanette and Dwight Russell presented to the Inquiry this week telling their story and advocating for improved search and rescue in Labrador.
Search and rescue advocate, Merv Wiseman also presented to the inquiry on behalf of NCC.
