Here is a notice on why, and who is eligible to get a Booster Dose Vaccine.
Adults living in rural remote and isolated Indigenous communities were included in the early stages of the initial COVID-19 immunization campaign and received their two doses close together to optimize protection from the COVID-19 virus as quickly as possible.
A Booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine is now recommended because protection may have decreased since you received your first and second dose. In addition, the best possible immunity against the virus is especially important in remote communities in Nunatsiavut where local health services are limited.
A Booster dose does not require a VaxPass, because VaxPass only requires a primary series of the two doses, of either Moderna or Phizer. Nor does the Booster dose is required in travel or gatherings.
Anyone working in Voisey’s Bay can receive their Booster Dose in any of the 5 Labrador Inuit own respective communities. They can contact their Public Health Offices and make an appointment to get the vaccine.
Right now, the Booster Dose is recommended for adults 18 years and older. Anyone can also get your COVID-19 and Flu shots at the same time or close together.
