10 New Cases in NL Personal Care Home

There was a significant increase in the number of confirmed cases in the province yesterday. The largest portion of which are connected to a personal care home in Central Newfoundland.

Public Health reported 15 new confirmed cases with 11 cases in the Central Health region and 4 in the Eastern Health region.

That includes 10 at the White Bay Retirement Living personal care facility in Baie Verte.

8 of those cases involved residents who are over the age of 70.

All the residents and staff were tested and were advised to quarantine.

The source of the cluster is under investigation, and the Public Health was trying to determine how the virus got into the home.

Visitor restrictions are in place at the personal care home and community testing went underway in that region.

That brought 46 the total number of confirmed COVID cases in the province, including one person in the hospital.
