The Department of Health and Social Development in Makkovik is recognizing Tuberculosis Day today.
Betty Sampson is the Community Health Nurse.
She says they have ongoing contests and got posters distributed around town and on their DHSD Facebook page with information regarding TB.
The contests they have at the DHSD office is to call the office and answer a short quiz to get your name and to win a prize for all ages.
They also have an ongoing contest where you share a picture of yourself with a fact, comment or a statistic about TB, and will have their name entered to win a prize.
For a chance to win a healthy food basket, they’re inviting children ages 0-4 to recognize World TB Day by drawing or coloring a picture of yourself with a healthy food basket.
So, anyone who drops off or emails the picture can get their name entered into a draw.
For the school from Kindergarten to Grade 12, they’re inviting all students and staff with a couple of contests.
The first one is to watch a Youtube video that was sent by the Community Health Nurse, the 2nd one was to decorate your classroom door for World TB Day, and anyone who watched the video can also get their name put into a prize draw.
So, anyone who decorates their door will get their name entered to win a free pizza party from Hotel Makkovik.
Sampson is also asking everyone to stay tuned today with Betty and Nevie as they will be doing a video on TB in Nunatsiavut.
